Anna has recently left Blue Lotus Tribe to pursue other aspects of her very busy professional life. We wish her all the best and will miss her very much!

Anna Goldberger may as well have danced her way right out the womb, in the words of the late, great T. Rex. She began her movement career as a small fry with her mother rocking out in the kitchen to Talking Heads, Jimmy Cliff, Klezmorim, and Andean flute music. Growing up, she spent summers learning international folk dances (Israeli, Balkan, Greek) at summer camp and shaking it to Prince and Marvin Gaye in her bedroom during the school year.

She began her formal dance training at the Jasmin Jahal School of Dance in 2003. She studied Egyptian Oriental there and then added Tribal in 2005 when she decided to check out Blue Lotus Tribe member Wendy’s classes. Later that year, she was invited to audition and train with the troupe where she received intensive instruction and the most attention to her technique she’d ever gotten. She graduated from apprentice to full Lotus about a year later and has been learning her way around the wide world of Tribal and Tribal Fusion since. Belly dance and tribal belly dance have proven an excellent balance to her other life pursuits of clinical social work and social justice. She believes that the right combination of belly dance and activism could change the world.
