Megan has recently left Blue Lotus Tribe to pursue other aspects of her very busy professional life. We wish her all the best and will miss her very much!

Megan Fuchs has always loved music and singing. One of her earliest memories is of singing Pat Benatar’s, “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” in her mother’s car. Soon thereafter she cut her bangs spiky short and told her mother it was because she wanted to be “puck rock, just like Pat Benatar!” At the age of 5 she took her first ballet class, and her love of music converged with a desire to move.

She discovered Middle Eastern dance in 1996 at Bristol Renaissance fair where she saw Zia (founder of Awalim) dancing during a drum jam at the end of a fair day. She was so amazed at the beauty and grace of it she begged Zia to teach her how. She began taking lessons from Zia in 1997, and went to the SCA Pennsic War with her that summer. There she met Audrey, who was then a member of Ghawazee. She continued her training in Milwaukee with Nadia Sahar, a student of Cassandra, and in a few years began performing professionally.

She took a few years away from dance to get a nursing degree and have a child. During that time she majored in dance for three semesters at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She broadened her dance knowledge base by refreshing her Ballet, and adding Modern, Jazz and African dance to her repertoire.

In 2004, at Spirit of the Tribes, she met Christina (and reunited with Audrey). Thus began her friendship with Blue Lotus Tribe. Over the next few years, she took private lessons with Christina in the hopes of eventually joining the troupe. In the fall of 2007, she studied with Blue Lotus Tribe to learn their unique style. Upon being invited into the troupe in the spring of this year, she happily accepted and is looking forward to growing, learning and bringing her creativity to the tribe!
